Terms of Service

Welcome to TaskTroll ("we," "our," or "us"), a family chore and allowance management platform operated by Books & Guides Pro LLC. By accessing or using TaskTroll at tasktroll.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

1. Eligibility & Accounts

TaskTroll is designed for families. Parent/guardian accounts must be created by individuals who are at least 18 years old. Child accounts are created and managed by parents/guardians. By creating an account, you represent that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You have the legal authority to create accounts for any minors in your family
  • The information you provide is accurate and complete
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account and any child accounts you create

2. Description of Service

TaskTroll provides a web and mobile platform for families to:

  • Create and manage chore assignments for children
  • Track allowances, earnings, and savings
  • Issue parent-controlled prepaid debit cards for children (via Stripe Issuing)
  • Gamify household responsibilities with badges, XP, rewards, and games
  • Track medications and health information
  • Manage family scheduling and coordination
  • Share real-time and historical GPS location between family members ("Location Sharing")
  • Remotely trigger audible alerts on family members' devices ("Ring Phone")
  • Send instant messages, photos, and media between family members ("Family Messenger")

2a. Location Sharing

TaskTroll includes GPS-based location sharing for family safety. By using this feature:

  • Parents enable location sharing for the family; children's devices will transmit GPS coordinates when they are logged in
  • Location data is shared only within your family and is never sold or shared with third parties
  • Parents can choose between "Current Location" mode (latest position only) or "Track History" mode (location trail stored for up to 7 days)
  • Parents can enable or disable location sharing for each child individually
  • Location accuracy depends on the device's GPS capabilities and is not guaranteed to be exact
  • TaskTroll is not a substitute for emergency services; always call 911 in an emergency

2b. Ring Phone / Device Alerts

TaskTroll allows parents to remotely trigger an audible alert on a child's or co-parent's device. By using this feature:

  • Parents can ring any child's device at any time; alerts expire automatically after 5 minutes
  • Parents can grant specific children permission to ring parent devices
  • The alert produces an on-screen notification and may trigger device vibration; push notification delivery depends on device settings
  • This feature is intended for family communication, not surveillance; use responsibly

2c. Family Messenger

TaskTroll includes an in-app messaging system for family communication. By using this feature:

  • Messages are visible only to conversation participants within your family
  • Parents can view and delete any message in the family
  • Uploaded images and photos are stored on our servers and accessible only to family members
  • Messages and media are retained as long as the family account is active
  • Do not share sensitive personal information (Social Security numbers, passwords, etc.) through the messenger

3. Subscriptions & Billing

  • TaskTroll offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required
  • After the trial, a paid subscription is required:
    • Family Monthly: $5.99/month
    • Family Annual: $59.99/year
    • Entrepreneur Monthly: $9.99/month (includes all Family features plus Entrepreneur Program access)
    • Entrepreneur Annual: $99.99/year (includes all Family features plus Entrepreneur Program access)
  • Subscriptions are billed through our payment processor (Stripe) via MemberPress
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • No refunds are provided for partial billing periods

4. Debit Cards (Stripe Issuing)

TaskTroll offers optional prepaid debit cards for children, powered by Stripe Issuing. By using this feature:

  • Parents acknowledge they are the authorized representatives for cards issued to their minor children
  • Card balances are funded solely from the child's TaskTroll wallet
  • Parents are responsible for setting appropriate spending limits and controls
  • TaskTroll is not a bank and does not hold deposits; card funds are held by Stripe's banking partners
  • Card usage is subject to Stripe's Issuing Terms of Service
  • TaskTroll may charge processing fees for card transactions as disclosed in the app

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access another family's data or accounts
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
  • Use automated tools to scrape or collect data from the service
  • Upload malicious content, viruses, or harmful code
  • Misrepresent your identity or relationship to minors on the platform

6. Data & Privacy

Your use of TaskTroll is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, including information about children.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, graphics, logos, and branding of TaskTroll are owned by Books & Guides Pro LLC. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our materials without written permission.

8. Entrepreneur Program

8.1 Eligibility. The Entrepreneur Program is available to any user who subscribes to the TaskTroll Entrepreneur Monthly ($9.99/month) or Entrepreneur Annual ($99.99/year) plan. All Entrepreneur plan subscribers receive all features included in the standard Family plans, plus access to the referral program, earnings dashboard, and Citizen Developer Forum.

8.2 Referral Codes. Each Entrepreneur subscriber receives a unique referral code. This code may be shared with prospective TaskTroll subscribers. Referral codes are non-transferable and are tied to the Entrepreneur's account.

8.3 Referral Commissions. Entrepreneurs earn commissions on active, paid subscribers who signed up using their referral code:

  • Monthly subscriber referral: $2.50 per month
  • Annual subscriber referral: $25.00 per year
  • Entrepreneur Monthly subscriber referral: $5.00 per month (available after the 10-Entrepreneur referral threshold is met)
  • Entrepreneur Annual subscriber referral: $50.00 per year (available after the 10-Entrepreneur referral threshold is met)

8.4 Referral Qualification. A referred subscriber must complete at least one full billing cycle as an active paid subscriber before the referral qualifies for commission payouts. Referrals in their free trial period do not count toward commissions until they convert to a paid subscription.

8.5 Entrepreneur-to-Entrepreneur Bonus. When an Entrepreneur refers 10 or more active Entrepreneur-tier subscribers, they unlock an enhanced commission rate on all Entrepreneur referrals. The bonus is retroactive to all existing Entrepreneur referrals once the threshold is met and is continuous with no cap. If the number of active Entrepreneur referrals drops below 10, the enhanced rate pauses until the threshold is met again.

8.6 Referral Retention and Cancellation.

  • If a referred subscriber cancels and resubscribes within 90 days without using a different referral code, the original Entrepreneur retains the referral.
  • After 90 days of inactivity, the referral is detached and the referred user becomes unaffiliated.
  • If a referred subscriber resubscribes using a different Entrepreneur's referral code, the new Entrepreneur receives credit for the referral.

8.7 Entrepreneur Account Cancellation.

  • If an Entrepreneur cancels their subscription, their referral code is immediately deactivated for new signups. Existing referrals remain on record.
  • If the Entrepreneur resubscribes within 90 days, their referral code and network are reactivated.
  • After 90 days of inactivity, the Entrepreneur's referral network is permanently detached.

8.8 Self-Referral Prohibition. Entrepreneurs may not use their own referral code to receive commissions on their own subscription. Any attempt to do so will result in the referral being voided.

9. Payouts and Payment Processing

9.1 Payment Method. All Entrepreneur commissions are paid via Stripe Connect. Entrepreneurs must complete Stripe Connect onboarding and provide valid banking information to receive payouts. TaskTroll is not responsible for delays or issues caused by incomplete or incorrect banking information provided to Stripe.

9.2 Minimum Payout. Commissions accumulate until the minimum payout threshold of $10.00 is met. Amounts below this threshold carry over to the next payout period.

9.3 Payout Frequency. Payout frequency is determined by trailing 30-day earnings:

  • Under $50.00/month: Monthly payouts
  • $50.00 to $150.00/month: Bi-weekly payouts
  • Over $150.00/month: Weekly payouts

9.4 Payout Accuracy. TaskTroll calculates commissions based on active, qualified referrals at the time of payout processing. Commissions for cancelled or refunded subscriptions may be reversed in subsequent payout periods.

9.5 Tax Responsibility. Entrepreneurs are solely responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes on commissions earned through the Entrepreneur Program. TaskTroll may issue tax forms (e.g., 1099) as required by law for U.S.-based Entrepreneurs earning above applicable thresholds.

9.6 Stripe Connect Terms. By participating in the Entrepreneur Program, you agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement (https://stripe.com/connect-account/legal) in addition to these Terms of Service. TaskTroll is not liable for Stripe's processing fees, holds, or account actions taken by Stripe.

10. Anti-Fraud and Program Integrity

10.1 Prohibited Activities. The following activities are prohibited and may result in suspension or termination of Entrepreneur privileges, forfeiture of unpaid commissions, and/or account termination:

  • Creating fake or fraudulent accounts to generate referral commissions
  • Using automated systems, bots, or scripts to generate referrals
  • Misrepresenting TaskTroll's features, pricing, or terms to potential subscribers
  • Spamming, unsolicited messaging, or any deceptive marketing practices
  • Circumventing the referral qualification period through any means
  • Collusion with referred subscribers to manipulate commission payouts

10.2 Investigation and Enforcement. TaskTroll reserves the right to investigate suspicious referral activity and to withhold commissions pending investigation. TaskTroll may, at its sole discretion, void referrals, reverse commissions, and suspend or terminate Entrepreneur accounts that violate these terms.

10.3 Program Modifications. TaskTroll reserves the right to modify commission rates, payout thresholds, qualification requirements, and other Entrepreneur Program terms with 30 days written notice to active Entrepreneurs. Continued participation after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

11. Citizen Developer Forum

11.1 Access. The Citizen Developer Forum is exclusively available to active Entrepreneur plan subscribers. Access is revoked upon cancellation of the Entrepreneur subscription.

11.2 Submissions. Entrepreneurs may submit feature ideas, improvement suggestions, and bug reports. All submissions become the intellectual property of TaskTroll and may be used, modified, or implemented at TaskTroll's sole discretion without compensation to the submitter.

11.3 Voting. TaskTroll may periodically open submitted ideas for voting by Entrepreneur subscribers. Voting results guide development priorities but do not guarantee implementation. TaskTroll reserves the right to determine the feasibility and timeline of all feature development.

11.4 Content Standards. Forum submissions and comments must be constructive, respectful, and relevant to TaskTroll's functionality. TaskTroll reserves the right to remove content that is abusive, discriminatory, off-topic, or otherwise inappropriate.

12. User Content

You retain ownership of content you upload (photos, chore descriptions, etc.). By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to store and display that content within the service for your family's use. We do not share your content with other families or third parties.

13. Service Availability

We strive to keep TaskTroll available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We are not liable for any losses resulting from service interruptions.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaskTroll and Books & Guides Pro LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or financial losses related to allowance tracking, debit card usage, or Entrepreneur Program commissions. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties

TaskTroll is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or that allowance calculations, card balances, commission tracking, or financial tracking will be perfectly accurate at all times.

16. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days, except as required by law.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

18. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Arkansas.
