Terms of Service
Effective: April 29, 2026 · Last updated: April 29, 2026
By creating an account or using TaskTroll, you agree to these Terms. Please read them.
1. Who we are and what TaskTroll is
TaskTroll is operated by John Shoufler (Net87) ("TaskTroll", "we", "us"). TaskTroll is a software service that helps families coordinate chores, allowances, schedules, communication, calendars, and other day-to-day household tasks across web and mobile apps. Contact: tasktroll.com/support.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent (paying) account.
- Children use TaskTroll only through profiles created by their parent or guardian. Children do not register their own accounts and do not have separate billing.
- You're responsible for keeping your password and 4-digit kid PINs secure, and for all activity that happens under your account or under child profiles within your family.
- You agree the information you provide is accurate and that you have authority to create profiles for the children you add.
3. What the service does
- Chore management — schedule, assign, approve, and pay for chores; rotation logic; bonus boards
- Allowance, savings, privileges, rewards shop, in-app spin wheel for kid prizes
- Family communication — messaging, location sharing on a family map, find-my-phone alarm
- Notes, vault, custody calendar, expenses, transfers, and other co-parent tools (subject to plan)
- Optional Google Calendar sync — read-only, used to render a merged family calendar
- Optional medicine list and health logging (see §7)
- Entrepreneur add-on — referral codes and commissions paid via Stripe Connect
Features available depend on your plan. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
4. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing
- TaskTroll offers a 14-day free trial. No charge until the trial ends. You can cancel before the trial ends to avoid being billed.
- Web (Stripe). Subscriptions purchased on the web are billed by Stripe under our merchant account. Manage or cancel at any time at tasktroll.com/app/billing.
- iOS (Apple) / Android (Google Play). Subscriptions purchased inside the iOS or Android app are billed by Apple or Google respectively, governed by the platform's terms, and managed in your platform account (Apple ID Subscriptions or Google Play Subscriptions). Cancel inside the app or via the platform settings; cancellations take effect at the end of the current paid period.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- Plan prices are listed at tasktroll.com/app/subscribe. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. New prices apply at the next renewal.
- If you upgrade mid-cycle, the new plan starts immediately and you are charged a prorated difference. If you downgrade, the change applies at the next renewal.
- Refunds. Web subscriptions are non-refundable except where required by law. Apple App Store and Google Play purchases must be refunded by Apple or Google under their respective policies.
5. Entrepreneur add-on (referrals and payouts)
If you opt into the Entrepreneur add-on, TaskTroll generates a referral code for your family. Subscribers who sign up using your code earn you commission payouts paid via Stripe Connect.
- Commissions are calculated under the rates posted on the Entrepreneur dashboard (currently $2.50/mo per active monthly referral, $25/yr per active annual referral, with bonus tiers for Entrepreneur referrals).
- Payouts require a verified Stripe Connect Express account in your name; tax forms (1099-K) are issued by Stripe at the federal threshold.
- Mobile in-app purchases (iOS/Android) do not earn referral commissions; web signups via your code do.
- You agree not to use spam, paid advertising that violates Apple/Google ad policies, or deceptive marketing to acquire referrals. We may revoke your code and unpaid commissions for violations.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use TaskTroll for any unlawful purpose, to harass others, or to violate anyone's privacy
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, copy, or resell the app or its data
- Use the location, find-phone, or messaging features to surveil people without their knowledge in violation of applicable law
- Upload malware, illegal content, sexually explicit material, or content that infringes someone else's rights
- Try to break, overload, or interfere with our infrastructure
- Resell access to your account; one paying account per family
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
7. Health and medicine information
TaskTroll's medicine list, illness log, temperature log, and similar features are personal reminder utilities. They are not medical devices and are not intended for diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decision-making. Always consult a licensed healthcare provider for medical advice. You're responsible for the accuracy of any health information you enter.
8. Location and find-phone
- Location and find-phone features are opt-in, and you control sharing per family member.
- Location is approximate, depends on device GPS / Wi-Fi accuracy, and is not guaranteed to be precise or real-time.
- TaskTroll is not an emergency service. Call 911 (or your local emergency number) in an emergency.
9. Connected calendars (Google Calendar)
If you connect a Google Calendar account, you grant TaskTroll read-only access to your calendars on that account so we can render a merged family calendar inside the app. You choose which calendars are shared with your family in Calendar Settings; calendars not toggled on are not shown to anyone. You can disconnect at any time from Calendar Settings or from your Google Account permissions page; disconnecting deletes our stored refresh token and cached events. TaskTroll's use of Google API data is governed by our Privacy Policy and adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements.
10. Your content; family data ownership
You retain ownership of the content you put in TaskTroll (chores you create, messages you send, photos you upload, notes you write, etc.). You grant TaskTroll a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, transmit, and display that content solely to operate the service for you and the family members you've invited. We don't sell your content and we don't use it to train external AI models. See the Privacy Policy for full data-handling details.
11. Children and parental responsibility
Parents are responsible for any child profiles they create, for the children's use of the app, and for compliance with applicable children's privacy laws. TaskTroll does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 outside the parent-controlled family context. Parents can delete a child profile at any time. By creating a child profile, you confirm you have authority to do so.
12. Third-party services
TaskTroll integrates with third-party providers (Stripe, Apple, Google, Firebase, RevenueCat, Apple/Google Sign-in, OpenStreetMap, OpenAI, DigitalOcean). Your use of those services through TaskTroll is also subject to their terms. We're not responsible for outages, content, or policies of third parties.
13. Termination
- You can cancel your subscription at any time inside the app or via Apple/Google as applicable.
- You can permanently delete your account at tasktroll.com/delete-account. All associated data is removed within 30 days, including connected-calendar tokens and cached events.
- We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, fraud, abuse, non-payment, or as required by law.
- Sections that by their nature should survive (data ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive termination.
14. Disclaimers
TaskTroll is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaskTroll disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific feature will always be available.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaskTroll's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid TaskTroll in the 12 months before the claim. TaskTroll is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold TaskTroll harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of the service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, (b) content you upload, or (c) your violation of someone else's rights.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pope County, Arkansas, and you and TaskTroll consent to personal jurisdiction there. Either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you in-app or by email and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after notice means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept them, stop using the service and you may cancel your subscription.
